Boreal has taken over the electric ferry «Malmefjord», designed by Multi Maritime, and she has started in the route "Molde - Vestnes".

“Malmefjord” is one of three ferries that will operate this route together with “Tomrefjord”  and “Vestrefjord”. The new environmentally friendly electric ferries will provide a significant reduction in CO2 and NOx emissions compared to conventional operations. They must be charged after each trip at charging stations in Molde and Vestnes

The new ferries have accommodation for 399 passengers and a capacity for 120 car units, and are universally designed, which means easy and safe access for all passengers.

They are very energy efficient with good seaworthiness and maneuverability, and also have a lower noise level than conventional ferries.

Great emphasis has been done on good facilities both for the travelers and for the crew. The ferries have modern lounges with large windows and different types of seating areas. There is also a modern kiosk solution with a good and varied product range.

Facts about the new ferries:

Names: «Malmefjord», «Tomrefjord» and «Vestrefjord»

Length: 107 meters

Width: 18 meters

Load capacity: 399 passengers and 120 passenger car units
