Design contract for Two New Fully Electric Passenger Vessels
Torghatten AB has signed a contract with Työvene Oy shipyard for the building of two fully electric passenger vessels that will operate on Sweden’s west coast between Strömstad and the beautiful Koster Islands.
Multi Maritime has been awarded the design contract for the two cutting-edge vessels that will set new standards for sustainable maritime transport in the region.
Designed to combine environmental responsibility, operational efficiency, and passenger comfort, the vessels will meet stringent safety and sustainability requirements while enhancing the travel experience for up to 248 passengers.
The vessel design features highly efficient hull lines that minimize energy consumption and emissions, enabling 100% electric operation within the available charging facilities and turnaround times.
A state-of-the-art battery-electric propulsion system will ensure low energy consumption and reduced emissions, all without compromising performance. Operational resilience is ensured through modern low-emission biodiesel generators, providing redundancy and robustness for uninterrupted service.
The vessels are designed for EU Class D sea areas and is to be classed by DNV, with careful attention to stability, safety, and performance in all operating conditions.
The passenger experience has been a priority throughout the process, with large windows and open deck areas for panoramic views, alongside climate-controlled passenger saloons for year-round comfort. The vessels are also designed in accordance with universal design requirements, ensuring accessibility for all passengers.
This forward-looking project reflects both Torghatten and Multi Maritime’s commitment to sustainable innovation and the future of green maritime transport.
